Yesterday the track on the veggie bin broke. This is the part that is on the inside body of the fridge so it is not replaceable. Grrrr.(I might try to glue it just to buy some more time until I get the $$$'s saved up to buy a new one. You think they would always sell those parts somewhere. Just another reason to get us to buy new ones.

Just a update on the fridge thing. I have not been able to save up enough to buy a new one, even after all this time. Seems something else always comes up that eats away at my savings. The fridge is still running and doing a good job that way and it looks like brand new on the outside aside from the way I had to fix the handle that broke. But the inside... I don't think there is one part of it that hasn't broke. I know it is getting old, at this point, but where are the days when a fridge would last as long as you wanted to keep it, or so it seemed. The only times I ever replaced a fridge, in the past, was when mine looked so outdated I couldn't stand it anymore and not because it wasn't working.
The good news is, all the parts I did replace seem to be holding up nicely. I probably spent another $300 on replacing parts but at least I only had to come up with $50 or so dollars at a time.
I still hate the glass shelves because they need cleaning so often, at least once a week but part of that is because I have sister who is a cooking slob and she puts things back in the fridge that sat in some mess she was cooking or she doesn't screw the lid on a jar and through shuffling things around, things get spilled. (Don't worry, my sis doesn't have the link to this site so I can feel free to vent a little bit. lol,)
I'm still trying to put away money for a new fridge but at this point, since I replaced just about everything inside the fridge, I'll probably keep it as long as it keeps running, which probably won't be much longer if it is made the way most things are made now-a-days. Beside, I can find a hundred things I need to take care of, in order to maintain this house, that are probably more important.
I think this particular model was a lemon and they only realized how much of a lemon when people complained, hence the sturdier replacement parts.

A good fridge is so expensive but I had no choice in what I bought as it was the only one that would fit in debth in the nook the fridge goes. And yes, I still have the old one. That is the problem with owning a old house and now my car is getting old so it has issues too. So things just keep preventing me from getting a new one. I just had the bad news that my curb water shut-off valve thingy is broken. I must get it fixed so I got the plumbers out and they say they have to also replace the lead pipe leading to the house. Estimate: $7,800. 00!!!!!
So again, the new fridge has to wait. Grrrrr.

You ever get a new fridge? I have had a fridgedare for 12 years. I pray if it ever breaks down its in the winter. I like the stainless steel but I bet they are hard to keep clean. The black appliances would be difficult to. I'll stay with the white ones.

I think I'll just buy a new one when it totally kicks the bucket because I can't seem to get enough saved when something else comes along to eat my savings. I think since I posted last I replaced my washer, dryer, dishwasher and garbage disposal. So there are now four very old things I pray won't die for a while. One is my AC (furnace is fairly new), the water heater, the sump pump and then the fridge.
