O.K. I just posted pictures of my little half bath in the photo gallery. This was a bathroom with ugly indoor-outdoor-like carpet, it had the out-dated pink sink, pink toilet, and cinnamon-pink tile with a darker decorative tile at the top.
I did not have the money to redo the whole thing so instead of a totally make-over I made it "make-do". LOL
The tile was in perfect condition and nicely done so I figured I could work with the pink toilet and sink. It all worked out and I'm happy with this little bath because I did certain things to tie it all in. First I painted the walls and tile grout celery green. I found photo's to hang that had the pinks in them as well as the celery green. I have 4 photos. Two have a light tan or natural finished frames and the other two have white frames.
Sooo, the white frames match the white door, trim on the door, a white soft toilet seat (for my Mom), tiny white tile on the floor. So white was a primary non-color in the room.
I also found fabric with a tan background with pink and celery green plaid on it. This tied in with the tan honeycomb blinds I installed and the two natural color picture frames.
The medicine chest was the ugliest art deco mirror. I used super industrial glue to mount wood frames around it and then sprayed it with that stone-look paint. The color is actually the color of the decorative trim in the wall tile.
If you look for the right things to tie colors together in what might be a totally out-dated room you will find that you can "Make -do" with what you have without spending a fortune.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.
Half-bath make-do.
