I have a tiny little half bath on the main floor. It had this ugly medicine chest with mirror in art-deco style which just doesn't go with the rest of the bathroom. Finding the same size medicine chest was impossible so I improvised. I cut a frame out of wood. Sprayed it with some of that stone-look texture paint and glued it directly on the mirror with that construction glue. And until I can afford to gut the whole bathroom it'll do. In fact it looks pretty good and was a cheap alternative to having someone make a bigger hole. Here are some pictures. You have to be a member to view our photogallery. Make-do half bath

I like that. I always think things we do ourselves that are decorative make a nice statement about us and who we are. No one else has the same thing so its unique as well as attractive.
Have you thought about making your own medicine chest? You could either make it out of wood or just remove the door from the old one and replace it with whatever you want, like a picture if you don't want the mirror.

Another thought is to not have a medicine chest at all. You could hang a plain mirror in that area instead. I keep all our medicines in a hallway closet. I don't have a medicine chest & I've heard that keeping most meds in the bathroom is not a good idea anyway because the steam, heat, & moisture cause them to become ineffective MUCH faster than they would otherwise.

Actually Barb, I didn't think of making my own chest. That wouldn't be hard to do at all. And there are so many pretty mirrors out there that I could slap one on the front for the door.
And Misty, that bathroom almost could not need a medicine chest at all...just a pretty mirror like you said. I said "almost" because both my sister and I have toothbrushes in there so when we are in a hurry - instead of going upstairs - we use that bathroom. Or if someone is in the other only bathroom I have it comes in handy.
That bathroom is pretty cute as it is although it has outdated tile. If and when I get the bathroom installed in the basement and I decide to finally gut that bathroom I think the medicine chest will go and I'll just hang a mirror. But that is down the road.
See, you guys are being very helpful to me.
Oh and your right Misty. One shouldn't keep medication in bathrooms. And I don't. I keep all my medicine in my bedroom dresser drawer.
