Shannon likes to paint words & pictures on her bedroom walls & then a couple months later she doesn't like them anymore & has to buy more paint to paint over them. I was looking up things on amazon.com one day with her & we came across chalkboard paint. I had a gift card from one of my survey sites so I ordered it. I thought it would be a can that you use a brush with, but it ended up being a spray can & barely covered half a wall. So.....I'm wondering how much it takes to cover an average wall & how many coats we should use. I just earned a 20.00 GC for amazon again & ordered a gallon of the paint on kin d to include with Shannon's Xmas gifts so she can finish her wall. I hope it's enough. I can put some chalk & an eraser in her stocking.

I don't know that much about chalk board paint but I guess my first question is how large is the area your painting? And I also imagine the paint can instructions should say if you need two coats. A gallon sounds like plenty if it is a fairly average sized wall.
What a great idea- I bet she will love doing new art work as the mood strikes her. A perfect thing for a young teen.

I'm trying hard to get inventive with Xmas gifts & still make her happy. Our funds are so limited due to Bill's needs that it's extra hard this year. I know she'll love the paint...she thinks she has to wait until after the holidays to finish that wall so she will be surprised. A friend is getting her a digital camera so I will get her some photography books & other little things to go with it & I asked Marja if she would mind sending me a few coins from Finland...Shannon is all into Finnish things! I'll take a picture f the wall when it's all done.

Be sure to take a picture after she decorates it.

I will take a picture, but haven't had a chance yet. Its all painted though & came out really nice. We bought her the chalk & an eraser. The chalk writes so nicely on it, but it doesn't erase well. We found that using a damp cloth does a much nicer job.

Ya, even with a real black board, eventually it needs to be wiped down with a damp cloth.
Look forward to seeing a picture when you get time.

Oh, that's so cool! I think that is probably the funnest idea for any age kid that is starting to draw not to mention teens. It could prevent drawing on walls that we don't want drawings. LOL
I love that. Thanks for posting that Misty.
