A friend of mine does this every year. A week or so before Christmas each hot meal she makes, she makes a little extra and puts it in a serving size micro-wavable covered dish and freezes it. Things like soups, stews, roast beef, chicken casserols, etc. She takes them to some elderly folks who aren't well enough to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, one of whom, is her own Mom. Included in these yummie meals are instructions on how long to micro-wave them and a label on top telling what it is.
I love this idea. We all know many of our senior citizens do not eat proper meals.
Feel free to post your great home-made gift ideas.
(I know we had another thread like this from last year. I'm still looking for it and will post a link to it once I find it.)
And the neat thing about this is, once you start it won't be just a Christmas thing. How easy to just make a little extra when ever you are making a hot meal that is micro-wavable and taking the frozen containers every so often to those who appreciate it.
