I am painting my kitchen and stood on the kitchen sink to sand the wall above it where I had patched nail holes. The sink collapsed under me. Apparently it had gotten soaked in the past and had rotted but wasn't noticeable just by looking at it. The base on the one side crumbled and the sink pitched forward, away from the wall. I thought I was going to be hurt but managed to jump down safely. I now have it standing, leaning away from the wall with something under it to prop it up. I'm glad I rent at the moment. My landlord gets to replace it. Just a work of warning. Unless you know that your sink is really sound underneath, don't stand on it.

I'm so glad you weren't hurt. You know I stand on my counters all the time to do cleaning and such. But I had the counters put in there is 3/4 inch plywood under them and they were put in about 5 years ago so I think they are safe. But I'll be sure to be careful the next time I climb up there - you never know...
Hope your landlord gets it fixed right away.
