We have been having to bail water out of our tub for weeks now. The landlord showed up today finally after we had told him we had done everything, including taking the pipes apart and trying to find a clog as far back as we were able to go. He had to borrow my tools since he didn't bring any with him, repeated what we had already done and decided he needed to come remove the old plumbing and replace it. Its not the first time he has borrowed my tools in spite of him being into contracting and renovating houses. Its a good thing I have them.

Don't ya just love landlords. I remember those days. Funny, he is coming over to look at your plumbing and he doesn't even bother to bring the tools he may need. I had this one house that the furnace never worked worth beans. He'd come over and ask if I changed the filter lately. My answer was always the same. YES! But he'd change it anyway and leave saying. "see if that helps". I'd call him back and he'd just fiddle with things and it never worked right. So I finally gave up on him and called some pro's. They were as worthless as my landlord. Finally my BIL was visiting, he was an expert in these things and he showed me how to clean the coiling. It was filthy and probably had never been cleaned since it was installed. Which reminds me, I should probably do that with my current furnace. I bet it has never been cleaned either. Yippee, another article I can write and not finish. ;D

I can't believe the landlord. He brought a heavy duty plunger and got the drain running. The whole time he was telling my husband how they have had this same problem for years here. He decided to donate the plunger to us after we had explained that the pipes keep coming apart when we use a plunger and makes water run onto the ceiling underneath and down the wall in my office. Both are ruined and full of mold and mildew. I had told him that I would put up a new ceiling and wall in here and he had agreed to let us just take the supplies out of our rent. I won't do it now. I'll be looking for a new place instead. Want to laugh? He had the nerve to say it wasn't his fault, that the person he bought the place from did a bad job installing the plumbing. :-/I wasn't in the room when he told my dh or I would have pointed out he owned the place now and it certainly was his fault if he didn't use some of the considerable rent we pay him to get it done right.

What a loser landlord. Not his fault? Oh brother! Well, at least he got it draining. I just hope you don't have more leaks. You guys should NOT have to live with mold and mildew.
I though for sure I'd have to call the plumber again to fix my basement floor drain but I decided to try a different plunger I had and I was sure it wouldn't work. After all I was plunging - in affect- all the way to the street but it took just a couple plunges and it was fixed. I was so happy!
