If you find you have a clogged drain and there is no one else around to help here is a great tip. Normally, you may push a wet washcloth or plastic bag in the overflow holes so you can plunge the drain properly. These things work pretty well but I found a great way, just today, when my downstairs bathroom sink was draining REALLY SLOW. Since I didn't have another pair of hands with fingers to plug up the overflow holes I put a stronger painters tape over the holes and plunged away. It worked fantastically! I won't tell you about the yuk that I pulled up by plunging but lets just say I rinsed one too many floor cleaning rags in that sink. ;D
It probably goes without saying....but I guess I'll say it anyway.....you probably should have those overflow holes fairly dry before you put the tape over them.
I now am feeling pretty proud I had that sink unclogged in a matter of minutes.
