I finally got my trusty lawnmower running. It was a combination of stuff you put in the gas tank & taking off everything that would come off and spraying the heck with WD~40. I'm so happy I'm doning the Happy~Dance right now. ;D

That's great! I'm glad you fixed it. Good ole WD40
Will you come over and fix mine? I want to start mowing my backyard myself because it is just costing me too much to have someone mow my lawn. My regular guy is in a work release program due to his drinking & driving problem. He stays sober all week and once in a while on the weekend he hits the bottle and then he can't stop. He was THE BEST lawn mower guy but I already gave him two chances (after he was thrown in jail twice) I really like the guy so much and even when he got thrown in jail he made sure I had someone cut my grass. But I think tough love is in order.
The guy I have now is his cousin and he: a. Mows to often (my old lawn mower guy timed it just perfect) b. Cuts corners where he thinks I won't notice (my old guy was a perfectionist) c. Doesn't have a trimmer or blower (my old lawn mower guy did) d. Is cutting the grass too long (it's Spring!), he should be cutting it short. e. Mowing when the grass is far too wet. (d & e: My old lawn mower guy knew what he was doing to save us money and do right for the grass.)
So I need to take over the backyard and I'll let this guy continue cutting the front (steep hill) because he really can't be sneaky and cut corners anywhere that wouldn't stand out.
I need to tear apart my mower too. It is brand new, only used a few times and the last time I tried to start it, it wouldn't. So I need to redo the oil, gas, plug and make sure all parts move. I really don't know much about lawn mowers.
Anyway, I'm so happy you got your mower going.

sorry about your good lawn mower guy and shame on cousin for cutting corners. the only thing he should be cutting is the lawn. why is a brand new mower not working ? is it under warranty still/yet. mine ran fine even though I did absolutely nothing to it at the end of the season. sorry if this makes you feel bad about your wonky mower . . .

Well, the new lawn mower not working is probably my fault. I didn't run it out of gas before winter set in and it never worked since. I even emptied the gas and put new gas in but no go. I do know the motor isn't ruined because the cord still pulls. (I had someone tell me if the cord doesn't pull the engine is froze up). I'm just taking their word as I haven't a clue. So, I'm guessing it is the spark plug, although why it would go bad so fast, I don't know. It could also be that I forgot how to start it. I know you had to prime it by pushing a little button but it could be I didn't switch the gear right or hold something down that I was supposed to. Been so long, I don't remember. I need to get my brother here. He knows all about stuff like that. Worse comes to worse, I'll have to drag out the dreaded owners manual.

Hi Tumbleweed....
By now you may have your problem solved and if not, take a look at this clip:
I spent around 6 years in a small engine repair shop and lordy sakes, I've seen it all. Anyways, being that your mower is quite new, you should not have that big of a problem. If you have not got the mower running just yet, then underneath the float assembly, remove the small nut (center) - then take the float cup off where you will see the float itself. Push up and spray some WD-40 up where the needle valve is. Soak it for sure! Place the cup w/gasket back on (seated) and then the nut. Add new fuel and replace the spark plug. That should do it.
Cheers....

Thanks so much aRMY83, And please forgive my slow response. I have totally been distracted from this site and right now I'm feeling rather ashamed of myself for letting your post go unread until now. That info is great. I haven't even attempted to take my lawn mower out for a look again, mainly because I knew I didn't know what I was doing. I think with what you told me and the video, I may make some headway. Of course with it being horribly hot out, I'm not real anxious to be mowing right now. I hope you come back so you can check to see if your advice worked.

Hi Tumbleweed....
You are forgiven and by all means don't be 'ashamed of myself' as all of us have more things in life going on besides forums. If I may add here, been looking around and must say, you've done some really nice work and I commend you for it.
I hear you on the 'horrible hot out' as it's terrible here in the Cincy area.
As to the come back, bookmarked it. Anyways, hope my little bit of advice helps out for sure.
