I know there has been some controversy with Target donating $150,000 to an organization backing a Republican candidate with a long record of opposing gay rights and since, Target made an apology but in all honestly, why did they? What has happened to our freedom to back who ever we want to back? Not every candidate is perfect but we pick who we think will benefit our company, our policies, our personal beliefs. So now we don't have the freedom to back the candidate we want in office? Does anyone remember the First Amendment?
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
O.K. So maybe Target didn't know what the heck they were doing and thus, had every right to make that apology if they felt they shouldn't have donated that money due to their own personal stance.
Yes, gay rights activists had every right to protest Target. But I'm puzzled by them demanding Target donate an equal amount to a candidate of their choosing. Well, then what is the point of donating anything at all.
What happens if I or a company want to donate to said candidate with no apologies. Are we going to be forced by a court to not back the candidate of our choosing due to the "hate bill"?
I never hated anyone but I don't have to agree with everything you do or want. Just sayin'.......our rights to free speech (aka donations) are fast going down the toilet in my personal opinion.
