During my research to find out the best way to detect why the toilet level in my tank kept going down I read this little tid bit in Wikipedia that got me curious. Yes, I get curious about some weird things. It was stated that a common misconseption (I had no conception mis or otherwise, lol) is that your water swirls down your drain or toilet dependant upon if you are north or south of the equator, the "Coriolis effect". They go on to say that the Coriolis Effect is "too weak to be observed except under laboratory conditions. Not true. I just now, moments ago, filled a sink and lifted the stopper and it most certainly swirled counter-clockwise. They also mentioned that other things may be causing the direction the water swirls. This makes sense as having a drain that isn't perfectly level or has a defect could change the direction the water swirls since water takes the easiest path. Never-the-less, I will be noting ...for the fun of it, which direction the water swirls in all my sinks, toilets, bathtubs. I don't know...I just have to test this out for myself. I'm so wierd.

Now you are going to have me watching the water swirling down different drains. I don't have time for that!
