Quick Spring Clean-up
If you haven't done your Spring yard clean-up yet and you don't know when you'll have time to do a thorough job don't feel bad. You and I are in the same boat. All I have done this year was cut back the clematis and did a quick yard pick-up before the lawn mower guy came.
If you can at least do a bit each moment you have some spare time you can keep things at bay. Perhaps today you can walk around your yard and take a mental note of plants that need your attention most. While you are doing so you can pick up twigs and branches as well as debris that has blown in your yard.
If you know you can only spend a few minutes each day then pull out your pruning tools and keep them in a handy place so you can dash out when you get the time and/or urge. Start with the plants that need your attention most or you care about the most and work your way down working on one or two plants each time. If it is running too late for some of your plants, which it likely is, don't sweat it. I'm sure they'll survive the summer just fine and you can do them this fall or next Spring. If your worried about what the neighbors think, just picking up that debris, mowing your lawn regularly, fluffing the mulch and adding fresh mulch will go a long way into making your yard look as manicured as ever. Sometimes life just leaves us so little time that some things have to wait and it is very likely you are the only one who will notice some of your plants didn't get pruned.
Here's to hoping for more spare time.
