I have been tossing around the idea of converting my basement into an apartment to supplement my income so I can take care of some of the bigger things I need to do to this house/property. I'm thinking it wouldn't be a permanent thing so the changes I make should be done so I could easily convert it back.
I have a lot of thoughts and considerations churning in my head and once I get a bit of time I'll put those thoughts here in a post.
I'm also drawing up a tentative layout of how things may have to be and I'll post them as well.
There are so many things to consider so I have to really think this out. Like do I really want to be a landlord? Hmmmm...still thinking on that one.

JJ, if'n I were you I'd give it a try and see how it goes. What's the worst that could happen {Dang, did I type that out loud?}. What's the best that could happen . . .

I am leaning more and more to doing this. I just did a Plan 1 where it would be just a studio apartment. I'll post the very rough drawings tomorrow. I'm working on a Plan 2 that would make it a 1 bedroom but that is far more costly. Obviously, I'll need a designer to come in because I don't kow what is best. I'll need to talk to real estate people to find out what kind of rent I could get verses how much I'd spend. Lots to find out, think about.
