I thought this may be fun to have an ongoing thread about the stupid mistakes we have made during the learning process of gardening.
I am truly a newb still, when it comes to gardening, because I'm still making many, many mistakes.
I mentioned this somewhere else on this site but don't mind repeating my story. My first feeble attempt at gardening in my previous home turned into a disaster. I had very clay soil and I figured throwing a bag of sand, that was intended for sprinkling on winter ice, would work nicely to make the soil easier to work with in this two square foot area. The results of my attempt was my clay soil turned to rock hard cement. I later learned that by adding a very find sand, and very little of it, plus water was indeed a good part of the ingredients for concrete.
And yes, the first time I planted bulbs, even after looking at the example pictures of which side was up, I still managed to plant them up-side-down.
