I rarely read the Wall Street Journal but today I stumbled upon their "House Of The Day" series. Although these homes are ridiculously expensive and totally self-endulgent (I always think if they just purchased a more modest home, how many good things they could do around the world with all that extra cash) I still find it fun to look. I think one can pick up some great ideas to incorporate into ones own home but in a cheaper way. Island LivingA Pool With Skyline ViewsModern Family HomeA Pool Over Mystery LakeColorado Mountain ModernA Living Room PoolContemporary Chelsea HomeNow this next one is my style of decor although some of it almost looks a little "dated" with fringed pillows and fabric choices and some of the colors are not exactly what I'd pick but still, my style. Naples' ProjectI'm not going to post links to them all. If you want to see more just scroll down and click the arrow below the arrows that flip your from room to room. I would be very curious to find out if the house with the pool in the living room sold for what they were asking. I noticed they had to reduce the price quite a bit because it wasn't selling. I mean, how many people would want a pool in their living room? Not me. Still, it is an interesting home. A very, very expensive interesting home. Yikes. I just can't believe what people will pay to live in Manhattan. It's crazy.

Well I got to say, "in our wildest dreams" of living in any of those homes... but if we had a choice, it would have to be this one: Piermont Arts and Crafts ColonialAlways wanted to live with nature and her surroundings. Lordy could we ever retire in that place!

That is a beautiful setting. I could definately imagine sitting on the balcony drinking a cuppa early in the morning. I can almost hear the quiet and smell the dew. ha ha
The home is gorgeous and there are some fine pieces of furniture there.
Some of those houses on that list would take 3 or 4 maids to keep it clean. Crazy.
We have one guy that lives in my town and it takes 20 minutes (so they say) to walk from one end of his house to the other. Now really, isn't that just a bit over-kill. I've not been in the house but I drove by it and at first I thought it was a huge apartment complex. Now who really needs a house that big? He must have a room to do everything. Want to drink a cup of tea you must drink it in the tea room 10 minutes away. ha ha.

Hello Tumbleweed....
We, like most cities, have an area of the rich and famous, which by the way, I painted two (exterior) homes some years ago, almost forgot what I was saying here, oh yeah, "rich and famous", anyways, they have such small families, but BIG! social parties. They even have horses running around the front lawns, believe it or not... lol
Well such a short note here, but do got to run...

I can understand homes built to entertain with indoor pools, bowling alleys, theaters, etc. and having "mini-apartments" to house out of town guests and all that but I still think some of these homes are just ridiculous. It isn't the envious factor playing in, in fact, before I moved my Mom into my home I was feeling a little silly having this size house, which is microscopic compared to some of those homes of the rich/famous.
Oh well, it is none of my business and I need to just get a life. Ha ha.
