I decided to make a thread primarily so I can hold myself accountable for what I do and don't do on this site. If I can see I haven't done anything on this site it may motivate me more. I also think it will be nice for guests and members to see what is new. Today I worked on the navigation system for the dictionary. I set the dictionary up when I was very new to message boards and coding. Since using ubbc is rather boring I have added some coding that will put the html letters at the top of the post. It is primitive and one day I hope to revamp the whole thing on web pages rather than in a post. But for now it works although a bit delayed in loading. Check it out: Dictionary

WOW is all I can say. Even masters of their trades could use this dictionary.

Awww, thanks aRMY83, I do have you to thank you for inspiring me to work harder on this site. I really appreciate you not being shy about posting and adding your own interesting and helpful information. You know, come to think of it, I bet you have all kinds of words that need to be added to that dictionary. I just add words when I think of them as being a word the average person may not know. I also have a running list of words I jot down as needing defined properly and added. Maybe tomorrow I can start to mark off some of those on the list. Although I was dog tired and blurry brained I added a little blurb about two of my favorite flowers: The Flowering Quince and the Hibiscus. No doubt tomorrow I'll reread and find I need to rewrite or edit silly mistakes. I hope not, though.

You know, come to think of it, I bet you have all kinds of words that need to be added to that dictionary. Oh so many and don't even know where to start. I'll give it a first try with these: Backer RodBacker rod is a round open- or closed-cell foam rod used to fill joints between building materials. It is used to fill most of the void in a joint so caulking or chinking material, a mortar-like sealant, can be applied to finish filling the void and create an air-tight and water-tight seal. Caulking or chinking material can be used to fill the entire gap, but the cure time for large amounts of these products would be a number of days or weeks, depending on the size of the gap. Source: What Is a Backer Rod?Tuck Point TrowelForged in one piece. Tapered for the required sturdiness and correct flexibility. High shank and high lift give plenty of hand room. Hard wood handle with metal ferrule is securely attached. Image: Source: Tuck Pointp.s. please remove this quoted topic if you decide to post it within the letter "B's or T's" of the dictionary.

Boy, I'm sneeky putting you to work. Seriously, thank you very much. There are hundreds if not thousands I still need to add. I will add them today! <<Edit: I mean the two you posted and not the hundreds or thousands. I'll check out the sourse of that image and see if I can use it. If not, I'll use it as a reference and draw it.
Not much done today. While I was checking the down load time of my other sites I thought I better check the download for this site. Looks pretty good. Download Times* Connection Rate Download Time 14.4K 50.33 seconds 28.8K 26.67 seconds 33.6K 23.29 seconds 56K 15.17 seconds ISDN 128K 6.73 seconds T1 1.44Mbps 3.32 seconds I do see where I forgot to put in a few image widths and heights so will do that. Added those two words to the dictionary. Couldn't find the source of the image so am leaving it off for now but will leave it in this post for a while. I need to get with my BIL, he has a brick laying business and probably has all kinds of tools I could take pictures of. I may look like a girly-girl but I love tools.
Ran a link check. darn, 9 broken links I have to hunt down and fix.

There isn't much new stuff to read. I was neglectful of this site for soooo long.

I'd never heard of a backer rod and its definitely something I can see myself using in the future. Actually, I wish I had had one a few times in the past.- Thanks Army!
Love the dictionary Tumbleweed!

Hey Barb! I never even heard of backer rod before or if I did, I certainly didn't know what it was, either. I'm not positive this is what I need but I know I'd like to use some of that foam stuff to put in cracks where the house sits on the block. Not that there are huge cracks or anything. I'd just feel better if I knew there was a good seal there. Thanks Barb (about the dictionary). I know it is a bit silly to have dictionary when someone can just google a word, but for some reason I just want one here. That said, I decided I'm revamping the whole thing and have a much, much nicer set-up on a blank page. I'm just currently transfering all the words I have so far which is a bit time consuming but I'll probably have it done by tomorrow, late. Good to see you popped in.
I'm working on the C's on the new dictionary page. Had to get the coding set up first, so that took a while. I'm getting too sleepy to work on it anymore tonight. When I get this tired I make dumb mistakes.

I'm up to D in the new page dictionary.
I also was bothered by slow loading "preload images" code and fixed that. Not wanting to take any more chances photobucket will be slow loading:

At Ron's (aRMY83) suggestion, I added a fun game called Bloomin' Garden. I remember this game. Misty, did you post this on our site one time? Seems like you did or Barb did.?? Anyway, you can find it here: Bloomin' Gardenor go to the Home Exteriors, Landscape & Hardscape board. I'm not very good at this game. Guess that is why my garden looks as it does.

Why thank you Tumbleweed and as always, indeed my pleasure and glad you found a spot for it. Seems to fit (theme) right in with those subjects. Had it on my board some time ago, but when the Mrs played it, she kept complaining that she was itching and rashes showing up everywhere.

Worked on the dictionary a bit. Ready for J's. Added the ones aRMY83 was kind enough to define, I think I got them all but just the ones up to I. It is slow going. Lots of tedious coding.

What I'm up to? Nothing, I'm embarrassed to say, although I have been working on the site, behind the scenes, puzzling over a coding dilemma that has used up far too much of my time. I almost have it all figured out so I should be doing things here or there that are noticeable.
